Epson DFX-9000: Fastest Dot Matrix Printer to Date

Epson America rolled out its newest impact printer on Thursday, calling the model its "most robust" to date. The Epson DFX-9000, replaces Epson's DFX-8500 and promises to be "durable," offer better performance and "low cost of ownership," while producing high quality impact printing.

Improvements include up to 1,550 character-per-second printing, new 2-line LCD-display control panel, upgradable flash ROM memory, Epson Remote Configuration Manager software to simplify set-up and maintenance, Epson and IBM printer languages, and "the fastest throughput in its class."

The model accommodates continuous forms from 4 to 16 inches wide; a front feed tractor able to handle continuous, multi-part forms up to ten parts thick, and a rear tractor handling forms up to seven parts thick.

The DFX-9000 supports Epson's optional type-B internal Coax, Twinax and 10/100 Base T Ethernet solutions; and 1284 parallel, RS-232C serial, USB 1.1 ports.

The Epson DFX-9000 retails for $2,999.
