CA announced that the former CIO of New York City will join the company as public-sector vice president for North America, responsible for expanding the company's business and visibility with state, local and federal customers and partners.

Gino Menchini comes to CA with plenty of public-sector experience and achievement. As New York City's CIO and commissioner of the Department of Information Technology and Telecommunications (DOITT), he created the 3-1-1 citizen service initiative for reporting non-mergency issues to local government, reducing the volume of calls filtered to 911 by 750,000 calls per year, and providing a means of circulating critical information during citywide crises. He coordinated the recovery of the city's telecommunications infrastructure during the 9/11 recovery effort, the blackout of 2003 and the 2005 transit strike, and drove the use of technology as a backbone to all government missions.

Prior to joining New York City, Menchini held a variety of IT management positions and was an adjunct professor of information systems.
