Ingram Micro Bulks Up Cloud Services Portfolio With Eight Partnerships12:58 PM EST Wed. Jun. 01, 2011
Ingram Micro sharpened its cloud services strategy Wednesday with the addition eight partners to its cloud services portfolio for solution providers, five of which are first-timers to the Ingram Micro ecosystem, with more than 15 cloud services that range from security to unified communications, Ingram Micro revealed at its 2011 Cloud Services Summit in Phoenix.
Renee Bergeron, Ingram Micro vice president of managed services and cloud computing, said the eight new cloud services partnerships are added to the fold to offer cloud resellers and service providers new cloud services to go out and bring customers into the cloud with a robust set of services. All of the services will be added to the Ingram Micro Cloud Marketplace when it goes live later this year. The Cloud Marketplace is a transactional, online marketplace where solution providers can shop, procure, provision and obtain invoices for cloud services from Ingram Micro.
"The pace is accelerating for us," Bergeron said, adding that Ingram Micro will continue to bulk up its cloud computing services offerings of resellers and solution providers as cloud computing continues to take hold. "And we're not done … We're going to continue to grow the portfolio."
Chief among Ingram Micro's new cloud services additions is Cisco, which will offer its Cisco Cloud Collaboration Solutions and its WebEx Meeting Center 25 via Ingram Micro, Bergeron said. The Cisco offerings will be available to solution providers by the end of the year.
Richard McLeod, senior director of partner sales for Cisco, said its addition to the Ingram Micro Cloud Marketplace can help resellers and solution providers attack an $8 billion cloud collaboration market that he said will make up 30 percent of the collaboration market over the next few years.
Other new partnerships Ingram Micro unveiled Wednesday include Siemens, which will offer cloud-based unified communications via its OpenScape Cloud Services, including OpenScape Voice, UC Application and Web Collaboration; SherWeb, which will offer solution providers Hosted Exchange 2010 for the Canadian market; N-able, which will add three cloud services to Ingram Micro's roster, the N-Central 8.0 remote management and monitoring play, Security Manager for anti-virus and anti-spam, and N-Compass for report management; and Symantec, which will offer its Symantec Endpoint Protection.cloud security solution.
The three remaining partners -- VMware, BMC Software and Trend Micro -- each add a cloud twist to an existing partnership with Ingram Micro.
VMware will make available the VMware Service Provider Program (VSPP), which is a solution for cloud service providers to offer and run their own clouds.
BMC Software will add Service Desk RemedyForce for solution providers, which includes incident tracking capabilities.
And Trend Micro will offer Worry-Free Business Security Solutions, Trend Micro Business Security Advanced and Standard, Trend Micro SecureCloud and Trend Micro Deep Security.
Ingram's new cloud services vendor partners add a roster that also includes AlertLogic, Autotask, CA Technologies, Citrix, GroupSpark, Intermedia, Level Platforms, McAfee, Microsoft, NetEnrich, Nimsoft, Rackspace and Vaultlogix
Bergeron said the new cloud computing services plays show that Ingram Micro is serious about its cloud computing strategy.
The addition of the eight new partners comes just weeks after Ingram Micro brought cloud services from IBM, Intermedia and SonicWall into the Cloud Marketplace at the VentureTech Spring Invitational conference in Chicago.
