VMware's giant VMworld 2012 conference this week in San Francisco, with tens of thousands of attendees who were following the company's virtualization and cloud announcements, also acted as a catalyst for businesses of all kinds to offer new products and services.

Data center orchestration and cloud management software provider Cloupia said it has joined EMC's Technology Partner Program.
Santa Clara, Calif.-based Cloupia will offer increased interoperability between the Cloupia Unified Infrastructure Controller and EMC's VNX unified storage products.
Cloupia bundles compute, storage, network and virtualization management into a single cloud management system. Its Unified Infrastructure Controller allows customers to provision storage from multiple vendors through a unified interface, and its converged infrastructure orchestration solution provides automated service provisioning across server, networking and storage components.
Hughes Cloud Services (HCS) partnered with Level 3 Communications to release a cloud services portfolio, eliminating the need for long-haul private lines and using Level 3's global MPLS backbone network to access private clouds.
HCS will use network monitoring services and technologies from Level 3, allowing it to monitor the status and health of the network. It also will offer a customer portal and provide support for network services from its network operations centers to simplify network management. HCS offers IT services and private cloud management and delivery with end-to-end support, and uses data centers, virtualization technologies and a global network to provide solutions and support.
HCS, Englewood, Colo., is a subsidiary of EchoStar, a provider of satellite operations and digital TV solutions.
Cloud storage providers Nirvanix and TwinStrata teamed up to launch a storage starter kit. The product combines 50 TB of Nirvanix cloud storage with TwinStrata's enterprise-class CloudArray storage gateway appliance.
The cloud starter kit provides enterprise customers with backup, archiving and collaboration along with a set of SLAs and is available through Nirvanix channel partners.
Cortada, a provider of cloud desktop services, launched a Cloud Partnership Program to enhance businesses' hosted desktop experiences while fulfilling security needs required by IT departments.
The program includes Cortado's free cloud desktop solution, Cortado Workplace, and its enterprise cloud desktop solution, Cortado Corporate Server.
The company also upgraded its cloud service provider offerings for Cortado Corporate Server, providing cloud desktop services beyond the traditional virtual desktop.
Cortado focuses on channel-based software sales and is inviting new resellers of the Cortado Corporate Server to become Cortado partners.
Bluelock introduced Bluelock 2-Series Virtual Datacenters, which offer customers a scalable, on-demand Virtual Datacenter for deployment of public cloud resources.
Bluelock said it developed two infrastructure platforms with differing resource and service options so that customers could choose among various performance, features and security requirements.
Bluelock's 2-Series Virtual Datacenters allow customers to adjust compute, storage and memory allocations within their resource pool. The Virtual Datacenters offer pay-as-you-go pricing and capabilities to deploy preproduction workloads, including functional testing, development and demonstrations.
