For IT administrators looking to pepper their solutions toolkit with a versatile utility, today’s Daily App is nothing to sneeze at. From a developer of the same name, Spiceworks for Android and iOS is a free and easy-to-use monitoring and management app that combines a set of basic tools with a cloud-based community and marketplace that can help simplify life for IT pros.

Getting started with Spiceworks is simple. First, create an account and install the software on a computer running Mac OS X or Windows from the Spiceworks website. Once installed and set up, all of the devices on the network will be categorized and listed, and network issues will be displayed at the bottom of the screen. This information can then be used to set up the Spiceworks mobile app, done by simply filling in the new profile page and entering the login credentials to start managing a network. The host machine must be running for the mobile client to work.

Spiceworks provides the ability to view network inventory and issues, see all the hardware and software on your network, identify if any issues exist and open a ticket for any assets that need attention. It can also run a help desk and tend to the tickets by providing the ability to see and respond to all trouble tickets, add and edit ticket description and details, and assign tickets and set priorities and due dates. Spiceworks also provides the ability to communicate with other IT professional through the app.
