The Daily App, Webroot

Security-as-a service developer Webroot today released SecureAnywhere Business -- Mobile Protection, which adds support for devices running Android and iOS to its endpoint security solution for laptops, desktops and mobile devices.

Webroot's solution starts with SecureAnywhere Business, a cloud-based administration, monitoring and security management solution for the SMB that reduces deployment of device protection to just a few clicks in its intuitive Web pages. Short of a full-out mobile device management (MDM) system, Mobile Protection includes over-the-air provisioning of real-time anti-malware software plus protection from malicious websites and lost or stolen devices. Think of it as a minimalist BYOD security policy for the flood of mobile devices being used in today's corporations. Loss protection includes the ability to remotely locate, lock/unlock and wipe a device, as well as trigger a siren on the device. Security scans are performed on all files, apps on internal memory as well as SD cards.

What sets the Webroot solution apart from other Web-based security tools, the company says, is its "single-pane-of-glass" approach to endpoint management. "The goal was always to ensure that IT administrators could support a broad range of devices from the same console -- making the addition incredibly easy for our current customers and the switch incredibly logical for our future ones," said Mike Malloy, executive vice president of Webroot Products and Strategy, in a statement. A full-featured 30-day trial is available after registration.
