EMC's Greenplum division has acquired an Israeli developer of database control and monitoring software the company plans to integrate with its "big data" analytics product line.

EMC, which disclosed the acquisition of More IT Resources Ltd. in a blog post late last week, did not say how much it paid for the Bnei Brak, Israel-based company. A story on the website of Globes, an Israeli business publication, quoted market sources as saying EMC paid between $10 million and $20 million for the privately held More IT Resources.

Founded six years ago, More IT Resources develops the MoreVRP platform for database and system resource management and monitoring.

"MoreVRP takes a revolutionary approach to database and system resource management by optimizing resource allocation in real-time at the OS transaction level to perfect IT performance," wrote Mike Maxey, Greenplum senior director of strategy and corporate development, in the blog.

More IT Resources software is most widely used in the finance, telecommunications and pharmaceutical industries.

More IT Resources will be integrated with the Greenplum division "immediately," Maxey said, with the More IT Resources team joining Greenplum.

"Greenplum customers can leverage the VRP engine within MoreVRP and the powerful reporting capabilities to dramatically cut migration, upgrades, and troubleshooting projects," Maxey wrote. "When combined with Greenplum’s Command Center management interface, we will be delivering the industry’s premier management and control offering."

The Globes story noted that More IT Resources is EMC's seventh acquisition in Israel. Earlier this year EMC bought XtremIO, a storage systems company, for $430 million.
