Savvis, VMware Partner To Help Customers Deploy Cloud Stacks
7:10 PM EST Wed. Dec. 12, 2012Savvis and virtualization software vendor VMware entered a partnership this week in which managed services and cloud infrastructure provider Savvis will offer applications from VMware's Cloud Applications Marketplace to its cloud customers.
The Savvis cloud service, called Savvis Enterprise Cloud Ecosystem Program, offers customers orchestration, brokerage, management and governance solutions that help them organize and manage their private, hybrid and public cloud environments.
VMware's Cloud Applications Marketplace will allow Savvis customers to access open-source software and commercial applications from software vendors, hardware vendors, content providers and system integrators. These applications can be deployed and customized with VMware vFabric Application Director for cloud provisioning.

David Shacochis, vice president of cloud platforms at Savvis, said in an interview with CRN that integration of the Savvis cloud ecosystem program with VMware Cloud Applications Marketplace will significantly expand the catalog of applications from Savvis. Customers will gain access to a range of enterprise applications, including content management, developer tools and middleware.
Enterprises looking to move to a cloud model can use Town & Country, Mo.-based Savvis to access a full range of cloud infrastructure services without having to assemble them themselves, he said.
"Enterprises have been looking for an application store where they can get a fully cooked meal, rather than getting dishes piece by piece," he said.
