Top 10 Tech Companies To Make PayScale's Best Employer In America

There are plenty of "best places to work for" lists, but PayScale, the compensation and performance metrics tracker, united with Business Insider to evaluate workplaces using feedback about "happiness" -- satisfaction, work "meaningfulness," stress, schedule flexibility -- and median pay compared to industry peers.

Several of the tech industry's best-known names scored spots. Here are 10 companies solution providers know well that made the list's top 50.



Ranked: 48

The storage giant's employees told PayScale they have high rates of relaxation (51 percent) and especially, flexibility (81 percent). Median pay after five years hits about $83,200.



Ranked: 42

AMD may have had a rough couple of years, but according to PayScale's numbers, its employees don't think it's all bad. They reported high rates of flexibility (90 percent) and media pay after five years of $100,000.



Ranked: 40

Intel employees report high rates of flexibility (88 percent), satisfaction (75 percent) and meaningfulness (69 percent), with only less-than-stellar scores for relaxation (35 percent). Median pay after five years is reported at $97,100.



Ranked: 31

TI employees like their flexibility (86 percent) and satisfaction (73 percent) but could seem to use more relaxation (35 percent). Median pay after five years is calculated at $99,600.

Ranked: 29

Cisco's employees aren't too relaxed (37 percent), but they report high rates of flexibility (90 percent) and meaningfulness (62 percent). Median pay after five years is about $119,000 according to PayScale's data.



Ranked: 26

Not too shabby, Symantec. Your employees reported high rates of relaxation (47 percent) and flexibility (90 percent), as well as decent rates of satisfaction (68 percent) and meaningfulness (55 percent). Median pay after five years is $99,800.



Ranked: 14

Microsoft employees say they have flexibility (92 percent) and meaningfulness (60 percent), with average rates of relaxation (39 percent) and satisfaction (69 percent). Median pay after five years is $110,000.



Ranked: 8

Corporate changes notwithstanding, Yahoos still seem like a happy lot. They reported high rates of flexibility (88 percent) and satisfaction (81 percent). Median pay after five years is about $120,000.



Ranked: 4

Qualcomm's employees sound flexible: They rated the telecom company very high (92 percent) in that area. They also reported high rates of satisfaction (81 percent) and meaningfulness (65 percent). Median pay after five years is about $106,000.



Ranked: 2

Google's employee perks are both legion and legendary, so its overall ranking -- second only to a pharmaceutical company, Celgene, in PayScale/Business Insider's listing -- isn't much of a surprise. Google employees report high rates of satisfaction (81 percent), meaningfulness (61 percent) and flexibility (81 percent). Median pay after five years is about $119,000.



Other well-known tech and systems integration firms that found spots on the list included Booz Allen and Hamilton (No. 19), Broadcom (No. 23), SAIC (No. 36), Raytheon (No. 37) and Northrop Grumman (No. 47).
