OpenStack cloud infrastructure developer Cloudscaling is planning to unveil its first channel program aimed at helping partners bring the OpenStack open cloud technology to enterprise customers.
The Cloudscaling Elastic Cloud partner program, which the company plans to officially roll out at the OpenStack Summit held this week in Portland, Ore., aims to provide its independent hardware and software vendor, system integrator, value added reseller and consultant partners with certified components for quick deployments of OpenStack-based public, private and hybrid cloud infrastructures, the San Francisco-based company said.
A Cloudscaling spokesperson said the company is the first to offer a channel program for OpenStack.
Under the program, Cloudscaling plans to provide technical and engineering support, access to the company's dedicated test environments and integration support for customers looking to implement OpenStack-based clouds using the company's Open Cloud System technology.
Cloudscaling is also providing access to the company's best practices for product, sales and deployment support under the program.
The Cloudscaling spokesperson said the company currently receives only a small part of its revenue through indirect channels.
Dave Cantu, COO of Redapt, a Redmond, Wash.-based solution provider and developer of public and private clouds and a Cloudscaling partner, said that Cloudscaling needs the bandwidth that it can only get through the channel to grow.
Redapt, a top-10 CRN Fast Growth solution provider, has engineering teams deploying OpenStack, and it works with Cloudscaling to add enterprise support to those deployments, Cantu said.
"While Cloudscaling handles the managed services part, we tailor the infrastructure so the cloud has the attributes customers need," he said. "We deploy the Cloudscaling managed services on top of the infrastructures we build so that when the infrastructure is done, the customer is only days away from being ready for the cloud."
