For the second year in a row, Kaspersky Lab stepped up to take another first in the ARC category of Client Security Software.

Partners surveyed indicated that one of Kaspersky's biggest strengths is its products. Kaspersky Lab partners ranked the Moscow-based company an overall 90.5 in richness of product features and functionality, and a 90.3 in the area of technical innovation. The company also landed a score of 98.6 in product quality and reliability, seconded only in that criteria by Sophos.

During the past five years, Kaspersky has retained a laserlike focus on its core competencies of antivirus and antimalware, which has continued to give the company its competitive edge, partners said.

"Their CEO and founder is focused on delivering the best [antivirus] and antimalware out there," said Jason Goelde, CEO of Troy, Mich.-based MBM Computer System Solutions.

Meanwhile, executives said that one of the biggest reasons partners stay with Kaspersky for the long haul is because of an unwavering focus on its core channel objectives since its inception.

"[The ARC scores] give us some real things to be proud of," said Steve Orenberg, president of Kaspersky Lab for the Americas. "We've set the bar pretty high for ourselves."
