EMC Acquires NAS Virtualization Specialist Rainfinity (URL: ) By 3:23 PM EDT Wed. Aug. 17, 2005 In a move to increase its capability across heterogeneous networked attached storage (NAS) environments, EMC announced Wednesday that it has acquired Rainfinity, whose technology delivers read/write access to Windows, Linux and Unix-based files. EMC said the acquisition, which it expects to close this month, is valued at less than $100 million. The 60 employees of Rainfinity will remain at the privately-held firm’s facilities in San Jose, Calif. An ECM spokesman said Rainfinity’s virtualization software will enable users to easily move files among servers.
