INDUSTRY HALL OF FAME
The CRN Industry Hall Of Fame honors the creators of information technology and those that steer the high-tech industry and channel in new directions and lift it to new heights. Since 1997, CRN and The Computer Museum History Center have held a special ceremony to induct the new Industry Hall Of Fame members. This year, CRN recognized five new members in an awards ceremony that was held on Nov. 15 at the Westin in Santa Clara, Calif.

This year's inductees to the CRN Industry Hall Of Fame, like the dozens of others recognized in the past nine years, definitely have the power to inspire.

The Inductees
• James Goodnight - Founder & CEO, SAS Institute
A programmer at heart, Goodnight's SAS Institute has become a multibillion-dollar software powerhouse since its start in 1976, one that is regularly billed as the world's largest privately owned software company and that is perennially on "best places to work in America" lists published yearly.

• Ray Kurzweil - Founder, Chairman & CEO, Kurzweil Technologies
A proponent of practical innovation, this serial inventor received the most personal satisfaction from his work on a reading machine for the blind. He's now turning his attention to devices and technology that could extend human life.

• Mike Lazaridis - Co-founder, President & Co-CEO, Research In Motion
The Canadian philanthropist founded Research In Motion in 1984. His most popular contribution to the industry, the BlackBerry handheld messaging device, can be traced to work started in the early 1990s.

• Frank Mogavero - Founder, Data Systems Worldwide
Drawing on a work ethic honed in his lean childhood years, Mogavero has guided solution provider Data Systems Worldwide through multiple business model transitions, setting an example for other VARs.

• Atsutoshi Nishida - President & CEO, Toshiba
Now the CEO of Toshiba, this persistent and persuasive Japanese executive was the driving force behind the creative spark for mobile computing 20 years ago, the Toshiba T1100.
