The founder of Exodus Communications Inc., based here, is launching a start-up ASP today.

"The emergence of application services is getting way out of hand," says K.B. Chandrasekhar, founder and chairman of Exodus (VARBusiness 500 rank: 287). IT managers today want a single sign-on solution to all their hosting needs, he says. That's why he'll spearhead the start-up ASP, called Jamcracker Inc., based in Sunnyvale, Calif., backed by $42 million in first-round financing.

Through a single sign-on, IT managers will be able to gain access to a variety of hosted applications, processes and tools, says Chandrasekhar. Jamcracker's menu includes business services, enterprisewide services, billing, reporting, support and account management.

Chandrasekhar, founder and CEO of the start-up, wants the reseller community to help deliver those services.

"In the next month or two, we are going to roll out a partner program that leverages VAR expertise," he says. Chandrasekhar expects to partner with approximately 100 vertically oriented solution partners by the end of the year.
