With improvements to its database, spreadsheet, presentation and writing modules, can the package provide a realistic alternative to enterprises reliant on that other office suite? "There is plenty to admire about OpenOffice.org—the fact that it is free probably being the most endearing to the masses. The application suite, in a pinch, has proven itself a viable option to Microsoft's Office."
