Yet Another Exec Exits Ingres

Word out of the Redwood City-area database company--the one that is NOT Oracle--is that Mike Coney, executive vice president of worldwide sales and support is leaving as of this week. Coney, came aboard the open-source database company after eight years at Veritas.

There are also rumblings that sales types are no longer being compensated on renewals, so look for more action, sources said.

Ingres could not be reached for comment.

In mid-January, Dave Dargo, a high profile Ingres exec left. He was Oracle alum who came aboard promising that Ingres would challenge the database kingpin. (By the way, Ingres has since downplayed the rhetoric, sources say, and is blaming the trash talk on Dargo, although he was hardly the only perpetrator.)
