The Daily App: Adobe Photoshop Express for iPhone

iPhone comes out of the box with great apps from Apple, including iMovie which allows for instant editing of video shot by the device on the device itself. In fact, Apple’s on-board cameras – despite lacking the resolution of some competing phones, including the Motorola Droid X – offer fantastic capabilities.

The still-photo camera provides Apple’s HDR (High Dynamic Range) capabilities, which provide for photos with a greater dynamic range between lightest and darkest areas on an image and introduce amazing new qualitative photography for iPhone than had previously existed on the platform. Still, the ability to do basic editing of photos is lacking on iPhones, and so we decided to take a look at Adobe Photoshop Express for iPhone to see if that boosted capabilities in a meaningful way.

Short answer: it does, and how.

A free download from the Apple iTunes App Store, Adobe Photoshop Express for iPhone provides the ability to do basic cropping, sharpening, noise-reduction and more for photos take on the phone itself. Turn photos from color into black white, fix shading, add effects and more. It’s also a nice utility for uploading photos to Facebook, Photoshop.com or Twitter after editing.
