The Daily App: Conqu for BlackBerry PlayBook

Conqu is a cross-platform, task-management service that supports iOS, Android and Research In Motion’s BlackBerry PlayBook – and the company says it’s working on a pay-service that will tie them all together.

For now, Conqu presents itself as a sleek, elegant task-management app and we gave it a whirl on the BlackBerry PlayBook platform. It’s free from the BlackBerry App World store, and was designed to work exceptionally well with the PlayBook’s 7-inch display.

What we liked: The navigation and graphical user interface are designed to appear very Outlook-like, with Inbox, “Today,” “Future” and other task folders in a left-side pane. Tasks are added to the database through a dialogue box at the top of the screen. Icons at the bottom of the pane allow users to tag tasks as urgent, for the waste basket or for the files. It also permits for searching for specific tasks.

Conqu, which was designed by AsFusion, also allows for projects to be assigned, and granular detail to be added to each task such as the effort and time needed to get it done.

It’s a cool app for those looking for a smart-device task manager, and for those who shift between devices and platforms. On the 7-inch screen presented by the BlackBerry PlayBook, it’s certainly worth a look for the low, low price of free.
