The Daily App: Tag ToDo for Android

The number of mobile apps that allow you to jot down and manage tasks appears almost infinite – and many of them are just dreadful or barely better than a physical piece of paper and a pencil.

Every once in a while, an app captures our attention because it offers something interesting or just different and useful enough to merit a closer look. Tag ToDo for Android is one such app.

It’s a free download from the Android Market, and was simple to install and get up and running on a Motorola Droid X. The beauty of Tag ToDo is that it allows the creation of task lists and simple organization into groups – so you can tag the stuff you need to get done or address during the day by work, personal, club, family, etc. The app also features synchronization with Google Calendars – which makes its power exponentially greater if combined with GCal’s sharing feature.

We’re starting to put a premium on productivity apps that accomplish missions or solve problems with simplicity. Tag ToDo certainly does that on the Android platform.

A couple of other things to note about Tag ToDo: It gives you the option to set an alarm when a task is due. The alarm defaults to a loud alarm clock ring tone, so take heed. Also, it lets you sort tasks by priority – which is a feature that not all task-management apps provide.

It’s a decent app for task management, and one that Android users seeking simplicity will want to examine.
