The Daily App: Privacy Inspector for Android

That means that there are also a growing number of apps designed to protect your privacy in one form or another, and Privacy Inspector for Android gives you an example of one method to take.

Designed as a “lite” version of a $3.99 app from the Android Market called “Privacy Blocker,” Privacy Inspector is free. It will scan apps on your device, as you tell it to, to determine whether that app is gaining access to private or device information that you may or may not have knowingly permitted. (In its product description in the Android Market, the developer “xeudoxus,” says it will show you an app’s “dirty little secrets.” That might be a tad bit of a stretch for most apps.)

Our feeling about privacy is simple: If you want it protected from the Internet, stay off the Internet. Having said that, there are ways to protect your information from falling into the wrong hands, and apps like Privacy Inspector will begin to give you a little flavor of what they do.
