The Daily App: IP Cam for iPhone

There are a number of different IP camera surveillance solutions for both iOS and Android platforms, all with varying degrees of complexity.

Previously, we’ve looked at such apps as Yoics, and found it to be straightforward and functional.

IP Cam, by developer Senstic, is a $1.99 download from the Apple iTunes App Store and will work with an iPhone, an iPod touch or an iPad. We tried it on an iPhone, and loved it for its utter simplicity. Once downloaded, simply tap the app and it starts taking video and sending it over the local network where it can be accessed on any PC, Mac or Internet device with a browser by typing in the appropriate IP address. You have the option, too, of recording the video to a PC or Mac hard drive if you so desire.

IP Cam provides instant video surveillance for any of a number of different scenarios where a full IP surveillance solution can’t be set up quickly enough or where an ad-hoc solution is more appropriate. As long as both the iOS device and the other devices or PCs are all on the same network, IP Cam works like a charm.
