The Daily App: Garage Band for iPhone

Apple’s Garage Band application for the Mac has been one of the popular components of its iLife suite, allowing even musical novices to lay down original music tracks and compositions with a few points and clicks.

But Apple wasn’t content to leave Garage Band to that platform, and decided to move a version of it to iOS. If you’ve tried Garage Band out on the Mac, and found it easy, you’ll probably enjoy it on the iPhone as well.

Like the Mac application, Garage Band on iPhone allows you to “play” instruments ranging from the Grand Piano to electric guitar to drums and windwood. Additionally, you can lay tracks of those instruments together and record your own vocals if you so choose.

And even though this is not a traditional app for business or non-consumer functions, it’s now possible to use Garage Band on iPhone to create tracks for photo slide shows, videos and presentations (without having to pay someone else royalties.)

Earlier iPhone models may have a tad bit of difficulty running this app smoothly, but with the processing power in the iPhone 4S it’s actually a piece of cake.

Garage Band for iPhone is a $4.99 download from the Apple iTunes App Store.
