The Daily App: Meeting Box for iPad

Some days, it may seem like all you do is drift out of one meeting and into another. After a few hours, they all seem to feel like the same meeting.

Meeting Box for iPad will help. A $2.99 download from the Apple iTunes App Store by developer Fishington Studios, Meeting Box combines type-written note capability, quick-add tasks that arise during a meeting and audio recording. Meetings can be labeled and organized by subject, and meeting notes can be PDF'd and shared, uploaded to a cloud service like Dropbox or shared via email.

There are other meeting-recording apps available for iOS and even Android platforms, and all-purpose apps like Evernote work fine as well. (Evernote is just a workhorse.) But Meeting Box was written and tailored specifically for organizing information, discussion and actionable decisions during meetings.

It works and it’s nicely built to accommodate a number of use patterns. If you don’t like typing during meetings, Meeting Box provides the option of writing out notes longhand through the iPad’s touch screen using your finger.

Combined with an audio recording in the same app, tracking discussions and decisions is made infinitely more efficient.

It’s not perfect. We would have liked to see the Meeting Box task list sync with iPad Reminders, but it’s understandable if that’s not an overnight task for the developer.

Meeting Box for iPad is a simple app that will make burdensome meetings a little less burdensome.
