The Daily App: KyWiki for iPad

Think of KyWiki as your personal note-and-information database.

While the traditional wiki is a tool for collaboration and information-sharing, KyWiki for iPad, a 99-cent download from the Apple iTunes App Store, was built as a personal wiki. The many benefits of organizational wikis include the ability to link some notes to others, add photographs, and order and organize information in a way that makes sense.

KyWiki brings those functions to the iPad in a manner that allows you to not just keep notes organized in a way that makes sense, but allows you to make thoughts and fact patterns organized as well. Some may find the rudimentary documentation and user help to be off-putting, particularly for those who have never created or edited a wiki before. However, for those who are even a little familiar with wiki structure, KyWiki for iPad is just a great implementation.

Some caveats: If you like your apps to be frilly and well designed, KyWiki is a no-frills, low-touch interface. Additionally, if you’ve never created or contributed to a wiki, you’ll need to stop and learn a few commands for actions like adding hyperlinks. For the most part, it doesn’t take an advanced physics degree to figure it out.

KyWiki is a neat wiki implementation for iPad and iPhone, and for 99 cents you may find it a decent investment.
