The Daily App: Contacts for Android

Wouldn't it be great if you could bring up a single list of contacts and then decide whether to call, send them an SMS, tweet or post to their Facebook or LinkedIn page--all from a single screen? Well, today's daily app lets Android users do just that. Contacts from Contapps Ltd. is a free app that puts all that communication power onto a single, concise screen for each of your contacts on your Android phone.

Contacts would be useful enough as a more capable and intuitive replacement for Android's default dialer, which is mediocre at best. But the ability to link with social networks makes it an incredibly useful tool for communicating with contacts in the most useful medium for the moment without switching to different apps.

For example, when displaying a contact (shown above), a row of buttons along the bottom indicates the medium or network to be used. What's more, clicking on any of the buttons displays recent activities for that contact. The SMS button will show your most recent text exchange; hitting the Facebook button shows their recent posts, and so on. It even provides free SMS messaging among other users of the app. Contapps' Contacts is definitely a keeper.
