The Daily App: Gas Up Free

Yesterday's daily app, YPmobile, includes the ability to display gas prices for the local area to help field workers refuel efficiently. But the feature is only available on Android and iOS versions; users of YPmobile for Windows Phone 7 have to look elsewhere to get gas prices.

Today's daily app lets them look no further. Gas Up Free for Windows Phone 7 provides much of the same functionality as YPmobile's Gas Prices feature, including the ability to display gas prices of all grades (plus diesel) along with station names, addresses, maps and directions.

But Gas Up Free also provides more control over sorting, can create favorites and custom searches, and display driving routes with support for visual decisions and price alerts. And the tool also makes use of Windows Phone 7's Live Tiles, displaying gas prices of nearby stations in real time. Tapping on a tile brings up station details and links to maps and directions. Finding the best place to refuel would only be easier if it filled the tank for you too. It can't do that, of course, but it does indicate stations that offer pay-at-the-pump. Data is provided over 3G, 4G, and WiFi through a link with the gasbuddy.com database.
