The Daily App: Mint for Android, iOS

If you like QuickBooks for managing your business finances, you might also like Mint, an app for Android and iOS from financial software and services company Intuit. Mint provides access to savings, checking, investments, auto, mortgage and other accounts and financial information right from an Android or Apple smartphone or tablet. Working in conjunction with Intuit's Mint.com, the free app automatically pulls in and categorizes transactions and creates a customized budget based on spending habits. It can even help avoid late fees by monitoring cash flow and providing bill reminders and alerts sent to the mobile device.

After a short registration process, Mint connects to accounts and goes right to work creating a budget. It calculates an average spending amount based on historical spending and groups expenses into categories such as travel, entertainment, shopping and dining to easily identify where money is going. The Mint app is secured with a 4-digit PIN, and data is automatically synced with an online account, so it's always up to date across multiple devices. If the mobile device is lost or stolen, the app can be deactivated from Mint.com.
