The Lowdown: Robobak is designed for managed service providers and solution providers to deliver technology that provides an easy back up for remote offices and branch offices. Solution providers can use Robobak's software to provide a crucial service to customers while making both a hardware and services play.

"With Robobak our solution providers can create a nice, complete solution for customers," said Ron Roberts, CEO of Robobak. "The partner can sell data storage, servers as well as our backup and recovery product, making a nice all around play."

Solution providers are responsible for hosting customers' data in their own data center, and Robobak provides the backup software through licenses. The data is then hosted on a local level for quick restore as well through the cloud. Robobak, then, deduplicates the information on the block level.

A Web-based console provides a dashboard for solution providers to manage customer data on, making it easy to keep an eye on any problem that might possibly arise.

"Solution providers buy the software and get all the licenses they need to support an unlimited number of clients," said Roberts. "The rate they pay us for the license decreases based on volume -- those that sell more make more."

For solution providers looking to take less of a managed service route with customers, Robobak offers a more traditional resale play as well.

"Solution providers that don't want to function as managed service providers also have the option to sell the software to their enterprise customers," said Roberts. "Rather than having our channel partner host the software and data, the customer installs the software and uses it in their own data center."
