Why You Should Care: Delfigo's flagship DS Gateway touts a zero-footprint installation with its cloud architecture, eliminating the need for flash downloads and hardware tokens.

The Lowdown: Boston-based Delfigo prides itself on getting to the bottom of who's who by asking three questions: "Are you who you say you are?" "Where will I allow you to go?" and "What will I allow you to do?" Those questions are answered with its flagship product, DS Gateway, which combines identity, access management and authentication into one comprehensive platform.

The DS Gateway distinguishes itself in the marketplace by resolving distribution headaches, executives said. The authentication product, which is browser- and database-agnostic, is architected to accommodate cloud platforms, eliminating the hassle of hardware tokens and the need for flash installations and other software downloads.

Specifically, the product verifies user identities by comparing and contrasting an array of authentication variables and then providing an ascertained confidence number that's ranked on a scale of 1 to 100. If some factors don't align, then the system will determine what level of access it will provide the user based on the acquired information, executives said.

"We try to capture those differences and proactively monitor and identify if it's a potential threat from an identity fraud perspective," said Bharat Nair, Delfigo vice president of business development and product strategy. "What we give back from a numeric value is a confidence factor, how confident a system is, from a range of 1 to 100."

The solution has gotten noticed by health-care, e-commerce and financial verticals, as well as the Department of Defense and National Security Agency, Nair said.

Meanwhile, the company recently finalized a partnership with Citrix, enabling its partner base to distribute the DS Gateway. And similar deals are in the works with Juniper and Cisco, Nair said.

"[The technology] can integrate very easily because of our open architecture," Nair said. "We make it very easy for our channels to make money."
