Intel announced this week that it has struck a deal with Milpitas, Calif.-based LSI to distribute LSI's RAID-On-Chip and MegaRAID products to its global system builder channel.
"Using the LSI SAS1078 and future 6Gb/sec SAS ROC and MegaRAID solutions, Intel will deliver both RAID adapter and integrated board products designed to complement the new Quad-Core Intel Xeon processor 5400 series," the companies said in a joint statement.
In the first quarter of 2008, Intel will add four SAS/SATA controllers and one system board to its stable of SCSI, SATA and SAS RAID products, the statement said.
"These are branded Intel RAID cards and go into our unbranded white boxes. They also come stand-alone," said Seth Bobroff, director of marketing for storage at Intel.
