Facebook Seeks CFO With Public Company Experience
The company said Tuesday that Gideon Yu is leaving the company after serving as vice president and CFO since August 2007.
Yu's bio was still on Facebook's Web site Tuesday night. His profile notes that Yu was previously CFO of YouTube, where he negotiated the $1.65 billion sale to Google.
Prior to that, the 37-year-old was treasurer and senior vice president of finance for Yahoo. The Harvard Business School graduate executed over 30 acquisitions or investments for Yahoo.
"Gideon has played an important role in helping us achieve our financial success, building a strong finance team and establishing the core financial operations of our company," Facebook said in a statement.
Facebook would not say whether Yu was leaving to pursue another opportunity, or whether he was asked to leave, according to Reuters.
"Despite the poor economic climate, we are pleased that our financial performance is strong and we are well-positioned for the next stage of our growth," the company said.
Facebook has more than 175 million users -- and that number is increasing rapidly-- but does not disclose its revenue. A source close to the company told Reuters that Facebook expects its revenue to increase 70 percent this year.
