HTC Snap, Touch Pro 2 Release Dates Leaked

Release dates for the HTC Snap and the HTC Touch Pro 2, two of the hottest and most anticipated HTC smartphones, have been leaked to popular T-Mobile news blog TmoNews.

Quoting a "trusted tipster," TmoNews said the HTC Snap will be available on T-Mobile starting July 1, while the HTC Touch Pro 2 will hit three weeks later on July 21.

Noticeably absent from the lineup is the HTC Magic, or the G2, the second Google Android-based smartphone from HTC. On the list posted by TmoNews, the HTC Magic has a "TBD" release date.

Unveiled last week, the HTC Snap is a Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.1 Standard-based device. T-Mobile is expected to launch a 3G variant of the 3G/GSM Snap on its network. The HTC Snap is aimed at users who want simplified access to mobile e-mail. It features a full QWERTY keyboard, GPS connectivity and a camera. The cornerstone of the Snap, however, is the Inner Circle feature that lets users press one button to bring up e-mails from pre-selected names and groups.

The HTC Touch Pro 2 also runs Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.1 but can be upgraded to the new Windows Mobile 6.5 when that is released. The Touch Pro 2, code-named Rhodium, features an adjustable tilting 3.6-inch TFT-LCD 450 x 800 WVGA touch-screen, a full slide-out QWERTY keyboard, a 3.2-megapixel camera, Wi-Fi, GPS and Bluetooth.

T-Mobile is also expected to have its version of the Touch Pro 2, which will be compatible with its network in the U.S.

And while the release date for the HTC Magic was not listed, it is expected to hit T-Mobile sometime this year after an initial launch in Europe.

The follow-up to the T-Mobile G1, the Magic, or G2, is a Google Android-based smartphone featuring a 3.2-inch TFT-LCD touch screen with 320 x 480 HVGA resolution. It also features a navigation trackball, an internal Wi-Fi antenna, Bluetooth 2.0 connectivity and a 3.2-megapixel camera. Unlike the G1, the Magic does not feature a physical QWERTY keyboard.

Like the G1, the Magic will support most Google applications, including search, Gmail, Google Talk and Google Maps.
