F5 Channel Chief Goes Global

By Andrew R Hickey, CRN August 04, 2009
F5 Networks has promoted its North American channel chief, making him vice president of worldwide channel sales.

The Seattle-based application delivery networking vendor created the global position in order to promote former vice president of North American Channel Sales Dean Darwin.

The goal of Darwin's promotion and the new position are to boost global collaboration and strengthen sales partnership strategies, two things Darwin has worked toward with F5's recently launched Lightning Program, an all-new channel program that launched in May to focus on rewarding partners for delivering greater value and boost their profitability in a struggling economy, Darwin said in an interview at the time.

Along with launching the new Lightning Program, Darwin played an integral role in developing F5's Advantage Partner Program. Before joining F5 in 2005, Darwin held positions at Cisco Systems and NetApp.

"We're very excited that Dean will be leading our global channel teams in this new role," Mark Anderson, F5's senior vice president of worldwide sales said in a statement. "Dean has done a remarkable job leading and expanding our channel efforts in North America. In this new position, his charge will be to leverage the great work that has been done in each region, and align F5's global efforts around best practices to engage our worldwide network of sales partners."
