Windows Live Leaves Some Out of Luck

By Edward F. Moltzen, CRN February 26, 2008
Microsoft has put a lot of its weight behind making its Windows Live services accessible, easy to use and effective in its bid to battle Google in the online application business, so this surely can't help:

We are aware that some customers may be experiencing difficulty accessing their Windows Live accounts. We're actively investigating the cause and are working to take the appropriate steps to remedy the situation as rapidly as possible. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience and disruption this may be causing our customers.

There was no immediate word from Microsoft about the exact cause of the problem, nor how many folks were affected, but this can't exactly boost confidence in Workspace at the moment. (This comes in light of issues surrounding Microsoft's distribution of Vista SP1, so it might not be the best of weeks out in Redmond.)

For what it's worth, there has been no trouble accessing Office Live or Workspace over here and it seems to be working fine from this vantage point. But if enough users are impacted it could take some of the wind out of the sails of the official SkyDrive launch and capacity expansion announced a few days ago.
