OpenOffice.org Going Mobile

That stands for "mobile OpenOffice.org," which is now an official project of Java.net.

According to the mOOo page:

OpenOffice.org has been somewhat of a quiet step-child in the office productivity application space, sitting in the shadow of Google Docs and Microsoft Office 2007 and Microsoft Office Live. Could this be the year it takes off? It's on track for a September launch of OpenOffice.org 3.0 and, now, with mobile plans, might start winning more attention.

The integration of Java with a mobile OOo framework is interesting, in that it may make it integrate better with the Java-heavy Google Android platform than other suites. More technical details and some screen shots are here.
