Today’s Daily App could be a solution to a universal problem that busy professionals find themselves plagued with: having no time, specifically having no time to read. Instapaper for Android and iOS is a "read-it-later" app that saves any online written text instantly so it can be accessed for future reading from a mobile device.
Created by independent developer, coffee enthusiast and technology writer Marco Arment, Instapaper is geared toward anybody who reads anything. It's easy to use, and more user friendly than some of its competitors, such as Pocket. To get started, an account must be created, which can be done online or through the app itself. Instapaper has its own browser, where a "Read Later" icon can be quickly tapped to save whatever article, blog post or email that's being read. Everything saved is available offline, so articles can be accessed when the device does not have a data or Wi-Fi connection. It can also organize text into folders.
A handy feature on Instapaper is that it gets rid of distractions by only saving the text and pictures from the webpage; it strips them of the full-sized layout and advertisements. Instapaper also syncs to Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr where articles that friends have posted can be read. It also has adjustable fonts, text sizes, line spacing and margins, plus a dark mode and brightness control for night reading.
Instapaper costs $2.99 for Android and $3.99 for iOS. It requires a subscription -- beginning at $2.99 for three months -- for reading archived articles.
