As the increase in slide shows and infographics have demonstrated, people love visual aids, and when it comes to giving directions, some producers of applications have realized that nothing is clearer than using image-based, how-to instruction guides. Today’s Daily App, Snapguide for iOS, provides a way to find and create beautiful how-to guides effortlessly from the palm of your hand.

Snapguide was developed by former Yahoo engineer Daniel Raffel and by Steve Krulewitz, who previously worked for Google. The two created the San Francisco-based company called Heavy Bits to provide how-to instruction guides for a range of topics such as automotive, food, sports and technology. Not to mention, this is a well-suited tool for a developer trying to explain how to use an app or how to install software.

The simplicity of Snapguide lies in its elegant interface. Finding and searching for how-to-guides can be done through the "Featured" and "Explore" icons found on the bottom toolbar. The guides are separated by topics, popular and recent searches. Creating a new how-to takes only moments, and it is so easy that everything is done from the app on the iOS device only -- no need to go to the Snapguide website create guides. From the app, simply click "Create," enter a title and start adding steps. Each step has the option of inputting text and a picture or video, and there’s also a separate tab for adding supplies. Also found on the toolbar is an interactive feature called "Activity," where the most recent how-to-guides are listed and separated by "Everyone," "Friends" and "You." This feature also allows for Snapguide members to communicate with each other. The app will ask to connect to either a Facebook or Twitter account, so that friends can share and access each others how-to creations. Alternatively, guides can also be viewed directly on the Snapguide website where they are stored.
