Sun, Singapore Airlines Take StarOffice To New Heights

Singapore Airlines is putting StarOffice aboard its new Boeing 777-300ER jets. This must be something of a slap in the fact to Boeing's erstwhile Seattle-area nabe, Microsoft.

Sun says Singapore Airlines—arguably the worlds' poshest commercial flier—will enable passengers to keep working after boarding. Yup. Those fliers not only get what SAL claims are widest first- and business-class seats, a "technologically advanced" economy seat but they can now also keep slaving away on their spreadsheets or documents as if they never left their desk.

This, I ask, is progress?

At any rate, StarOffice is part of SAL's KrisWorld in-flight entertainment system. The first of the new jets were deployed last December.
