Global Hyatt Gets Hotel In Order

Global Hyatt was recently having trouble managing the myriad financial, forecasting and planning information that is crucial to its business. The hospitality giant, which includes five separate operating units that manage more than 800 properties in 44 different countries, was in need of a solution that would enable it to simplify information delivery, as well as ensure the accuracy, speed and consistency of that information, so that it could ultimately make better business decisions.

That's why Global Hyatt turned to Santa Clara, Calif.-based Hyperion Solutions, a provider of performance-management software, and its partner, Teradata, a division of Dayton, Ohio-based NCR. With their help, Global Hyatt implemented Hyperion System 9, a performance-management system used to deliver financial, operational and market data covering the hospitality industry, and is customized for various user groups' roles and responsibilities.

The Hyperion System 9 is a Web-based solution for integrating financial-management applications and business intelligence into a single view. It delivers financial reporting, consolidation, forecasting, planning and scorecarding through a single point of entry.

Teradata was called on to provide data-warehousing software and technology for Global Hyatt's external information not captured in Hyperion's databases. Hyperion and Teradata worked together to deploy an engine to cleanse external information, enabling users to view more accurate data from multiple sources in real-time.

For the next stage of the project, Global Hyatt will deploy the Hyperion Master Data Management (MDM) capability to manage data structures centrally. The MDM will let Global Hyatt manage changes down to various source systems to help with the unified collection of data.
