DNC Registry
techweb
(Do Not Call Registry) A service of the U.S. government funded by the telemarketing industry and introduced in June 2003. To avoid telemarketing calls, register all your telephone numbers online at www.donotcall.gov or by calling 888 382-1222. By the end of 2005, the FTC reported that more than 107 million numbers were registered.

Telemarketers Must Check the Registry
Starting October 1, 2003, telemarketers are required to access the DNC database every three months and remove matching numbers from their lists. Charitable organizations are exempt.

The DNC Registry can be enforced by the FTC, the FCC and the states, and if a person is still called, fines up to $11,000 may be incurred. If you have not registered your numbers, you may ask each telemarketer to take you off their list.
