(Interim Standard-95) The standards name for first-generation CDMA cellphone technology. Operating in the 800 MHz band and the 1.9 GHz PCS band, IS-95, also known as "IS-95A" and "Narrowband CDMA" (N-CDMA), is officially "cdmaOne" by the CDMA Development Group (CDG). IS-95A was first deployed in 1995. In 1999, IS-95B added a 64 Kbps packet capability, enabling data to be transmitted to a CDMA cellphone. IS-95B was superseded by CDMA2000.
