Apple's online store for downloading paid Mac OS X applications from third-party developers. Launched in 2011 and similar to the iTunes App Store for the iPhone/iPad, users can search categories of apps, download them and run them from the Mac's Launchpad interface beginning with Version 10.7 of Mac OS X (see Lion). They can also update all their apps with one click of the mouse. Also like iTunes, submitted software is evaluated for compliance by Apple before being approved and made available to the public.
