A shortcut key on PC keyboards that is used by itself to launch the Windows Start menu and in combination with other keys to launch applications. There are usually two Windows keys (Winkeys) on desktop keyboards, each flanking the spacebar, although laptop computers may have only the left one or none at all.
Mac and Linux Too
If a PC keyboard is attached to a Mac, the Windows key becomes the Command key. In addition, Linux and Unix operating systems generally support the key, but its purpose may have to be configured by the user. See Windows keyboard and Menu key.
Winkeys Purpose
Winkey Open Start menu
Winkey + Break Open System Properties Panel
Winkey + F Open Search to find files
Winkey + M Minimize all open windows
Winkey + Tab Flip 3D rotation (Vista)

These are examples of the Windows key (left) and Menu key (right) from the right side of the space bar on two different keyboards. An additional Windows key flanks the left side.
