An application that runs within the Web browser. The instructions, typically written in JavaScript, are embedded within the Web page that is downloaded from a Web site. The advantage of browser-based applications is that they can run in a Windows PC, Mac or Linux machine, since, for the most part, all Web browsers render Web pages and execute JavaScript code in the same manner no matter the operating environment.
