A flash memory chip module that provides solid state storage in small handheld devices or thin client terminals. A disk on module (DOM) is typically available in small storage capacities for mobile devices, whereas solid state disk drives made up of many flash chips are used in laptops. Also called a "disk on memory," it plugs into standard IDE/ATA or SATA sockets on the motherboard. See solid state drive.
