A vertical computer cabinet. The most common design for business computers, tower cases are the most expandable and are easy to replace parts. Years ago, personal computers were commonly found in horizontal cases, although not so much today. However, home theater PCs are horizontally oriented the same as A/V receivers and players. These tower computers are used daily by Alan Freedman, author of this encyclopedia. The PC on the left was custom built, while the Mac tower in the center and the HP tower on the right were off the shelf.
