The Baan Co. is launching a low-cost, E-business approach it hopes will satisfy the Internet commerce needs of midmarket companies.

Baan's new E-Enterprise suite consists of three Web-based applications: E-Sales, E-Collaboration and E-Procurement. These applications will extend its core enterprise applications for supply chain collaboration, indirect procurement and online sales.

"We wanted to offer a complete E-business solution that was easy and affordable," said Soren Pallesen, director of product marketing for Baan in Santa Clara, Calif. "We can also model the product for the various vertical markets our users are in."

The new suite leverages existing Baan software applications for financial, sales, configuration and operations management, Pallesen said.

The E-Sales component is used for business-to-business selling environments and includes sales order status, invoicing, prices and product availability. E-Collaboration is an XML-based supply chain collaboration software that allows business partners to communicate online. E-Procurement is software that includes an intranet-based, self-service requisitioning system.

The E-Sales application will start at $25,000 for 25 concurrent Internet sessions. The entire E-Procurement package with 150 named users is listed at $150,000.
