CRN's 2016 Tech Year In Review

CRN looks back at the biggest news stories of 2016 in the technology industry and throughout the IT channel.

2016 will be remembered as a year of innovation in corporate IT, with container, machine learning, hyper-converged and Internet of Things technologies all bleeding into the enterprise mainstream. Forward-looking solution providers were able to reap the innovation rewards this year, modernizing election campaign strategies with new big data capabilities and super-charging the IoT market with vertical market expertise and managed services savviness.

Private equity firms continued to pump money into the channel, most recently with KKR & Co. unveiling plans to acquire a majority stake in Optiv Security.

In it's first bomb-drop as an independent company, Hewlett Packard Enterprise said it would spin off its Enterprise Services business and combine it with CSC to create the third largest solution provider in the world.

And the biggest deal in tech history, Dell's $67 billion purchase of EMC, became official in September.

Take a trip down memory lane with CRN as we look back at the high-profile executive moves, controversial companies, credibility-destroying data breaches and everything else that impacted the channel in 2016.
