Report: Dell Slashes Monitor Orders By 30 Percent

DigiTimes, in an item, said the Chinese-language publication Economic Daily News reported that Dell has cut monitor panel monitors in an environment of weak sales and an effort to improve inventory control. A Dell spokeswoman said the company typically doesn't "comment on rumors/speculation concerning vendor relationships."

Last month, the research firm DisplaySearch put out a report on "Black Friday" week sales which showed PC market share leader Hewlett-Packard grew its unit market share of LCD monitors to 45.6 percent for the week. Dell didn't register on the list; but a list identified as "other" manufacturers showed a market share decline for the Black Friday week compared with 2005, according to DisplaySearch.
