Businesses Ready To Commit

Data from the May CRN Business Spending Survey shows that 56 percent of midsize companies plan to increase their IT budgets over the next 12 months. Of these, more than half plan to increase spending by at least 15 percent.

These are solid numbers, but how committed to actually carrying out these planned increases are these companies? CRN has the data. Some 40 percent of midsize companies that plan to increase IT budgets indicate they are "extremely committed" to these plans and the budget increases are already being instituted, according to CRN's survey findings.

Another 42 percent state that they are "strongly committed" and the budget increases are very likely to be instituted in the near future. Only 6 percent express a "slight commitment" to spending plans, indicating that the expected budget increases are not likely to be initiated any time soon.

These results are a strong indication that companies planning to increase technology spending will actually do so over the next 12 months. Along with the other figures cited above, they suggest strong sales opportunities for solution providers in the midsize market segment, at least through the rest of this year.
